The Rogue and the Rival

The wonderful, extraordinary, and all-around cool chick, Maya Rodale has released her latest book, which follows the Phillip, the villain of The Heir and the Spare, as he licks his wounds and redeems himself after his awful behavior. Don't you just love it when bad boys are tamed by a good woman? Well ... relatively good, she has a few secrets of her own, and there are occasions when you don't want a man to be too tamed. :P

Check it out:

The ROGUE and the RIVAL

Six long years have passed since Angela Sullivan set eyes on a man. Six years since the man she loved ruined her-and her parents banished her to Stanbrook Abbey, where she's now preparing for her vows of poverty, obedience, and chastity. But when the abbey takes in a
handsome-if impudent-injured rogue, it will take divine intervention for Angela to quell her sinful thoughts...

If Lord Phillip were not in such pain from his riding accident, he would consider himself lucky to be staying in a building full of women. But his rakish reputation has preceded him. True, Phillip may not be his angelic twin brother, but as days become weeks, his thoughts of Angela grow nobler-as Angela's thoughts of him become less than holy...

You go, Maya! You worked hard and I'm so glad to see your efforts pay off. And I can't wait to see how it ends. Maya has a tendency to have me critique the first half of the book and leave me hanging. She's a bit of a tease. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone has a very enjoyable and yummy Thanksgiving. Things I'm grateful for this year:

  • My husband and best friend
  • My family
  • My dog
  • And all of my friends and fellow writers who have encouraged me all these years in pursuit of my dream. THANK YOU! I'm so blessed to have all of you in my life.
I'm also thankful for great movies. I'm especially excited about The Watchman. You mention graphic novels or comics and some people will sneer and say how they're for children. Or others will make fun for you not letting go of childhood. But those critics are missing out on amazing, complex stories. I just read The Watchman and was blown away. The detail is absolutely amazing. Nothing is wasted in this story. Everything has a meaning, even the news airing in the background on TV and comics being read within this comic. Not to mention that the issues with which the characters are dealing reflect what's going on in politics and society today.

It's on my keeper shelf.

Finished ... well, the first draft

So I finished the first draft today. I hadn't allowed myself to blog until I was finished. WhooHoo!

Hmmm... now, how long has it taken me? I don't even want to think about it. No looking back. Though technically, I will be looking back because now it is time for

REVISIONS
(said in a deep, booming voice with lots of re-verb)

I have a lot of holes to fill in, namely historical facts and names and the details. But it felt so good to finally write "The End" and actually know how it ends. I love being a pantser because every time I sit down to write, I have no idea where the story will end up. And most of time, it works out. Yay!

Thanks to everyone who pushed me and prodded me to get this through. I definitely get by with a little help from my friends.
