So I hit the ground running when I got back from my WOW with
Karmela and haven't had time to blog. We had an awesome time. She hit her goal of over 60K and I hit mine of 50K. I did 11,000 words in two days!!! Actually, we got down to the cabin a little late (ahem), so we started writing after dinner. BTW: Cabin was fabulous. It was total log cabin down to the pine smell, and the owners must have raided the local crafty stores for all the decorations. It felt so homey, like
grandmom's. Plus they had so many nooks with comfy chairs on which to write (with sockets available) and two big porches with rocking chairs and a swing bench. Whenever we got antsy, we just picked up and moved somewhere else.
The first night we wrote for about 3 hours or so and then we were both exhausted. The next day around 8 am, we ate breakfast and started immediately. We stopped around 12:30 for lunch and then around 6:30 for dinner. Then we frantically continued until nearly 11 pm. It really helped to have someone else at the cabin. I could hear her typing away and it just inspired me to keep going. Mostly, because I'd never hear the end of it if I didn't reach my goal. :P
On Sunday, we had to leave by 11 am and we were both exhausted, but so excited. It really showed us how just banging through scenes and not allowing ourselves to get distracted can so make a difference. Just doing 11K at my home would've taken me at least a month, if not more, depending on what comes up with work or family, both of which have been putting on the demands lately. Plus, NO INTERNET makes all the difference. And we didn't put the TV on until we were ready to leave ... just to make sure the world was still there.
Are we doing this again? Hell, yeah! I just wish it was next weekend so I can get this damn story finished and work on the revisions, which I will need at least 2 weeks of cabin serenity to make a dent.
Oh, and we were good, despite some dire predictions. We kept our traps closed except during meals.
Ha!
