Here We Go Again

I had dinner with Karmela, a fantastic author and critique partner who really kicks ass (especially mine when she's reading my stuff ... ack!). We're hoping to do a writer's weekend where we rent a cabin in the boondocks and just write, only coming out of our rooms or up from our computers to eat and drink (yes, alchohol will be served). Maybe after every page I complete, I do a shot. Hmmmm ... I wonder how that will work out. Good motiviation, but it might get harder or easier or write after awhile. We'll just have to see. :P

Since it's hard for me to blog everyday with all the crap piling up, I'm going to take a cue from Marcia and just blog once a week. Okay ... weight off my shoulders now.

But, seriously, Al Swearengen said it best on the Deadwood series (which, if any of you haven't seen, was brilliant) and it sort of fit my mood these past few months:

"In life you have to do a lot of things you don't fucking want to do. Many times, that's what the fuck life is... one vile fucking task after another."

Also, I've been watching a lot of movies lately and one that stood out (horror-wise) was Teeth, about a girl who learns (at least the hard way ... well, hard way for her boyfiend) that she has vagina dentata. It perfectly combines teen angst, the trials and pitfalls of puberty, and how hell hath no fury like a vagina with teeth. If you want to make your men squirm, put this movie in!

So on a light and sweet note, a friend, who is an amazing baker, sent me this funny blog link for cake disasters.

Have a fun Labor Day weekend!!!

I'm Back!!!

As my first blog back from my funk-o-rama, I want to give a MAJOR plug to two incredible chicks who have books out this month:

Marcia Colette, who is totally crazy (in a good way), has a so hot it's cool paranormal published by Parker Publishing:
Unstable Environment

Selfless pilot Sinclair Duval gave up two promotions, a beautiful condo, and a lover to protect her three-year-old niece from the lifestyle that destroyed the child's scheming mother, Sinclair's sister. Blaming himself for the loss of his fiancée in the last were-cheetah skirmish, brooding healer Rio Velasquez wants nothing to do with the upcoming battle, but struggles with turning his back on another innocent victim. When an act of sabotage nearly causes the toddler's death, Rio delivers a bite that saves her life--and changes her into a shape-shifter. A deadly clan war, an overzealous Social Service worker, an out-of-control shifting child, and falling in love add up to an Unstable Environment.

Just one thing to say to Marcia ... SAVE THE PUSSIES. Where are those t-shirts, hon? :P To learn more about Marcia and her books check out http://www.marciacolette.com/books.php.

Alix Rickloff, a fellow member of WRW and a sweet, cool chick who always makes the WRW Retreat so much fun, has a debut book out. She finaled in the Golden Heart last year and is now a published author. Yay!

Lost in You

Cornwall, 1815. Beyond the country balls and genteel society of Regency England lies another realm—where passion and peril collide, and two lovers face an impossible choice…

Conor Bligh is one of the Other—half human, half Fey, part of a brotherhood sworn to protect the divide between the Faery and mortal worlds. Conor is gifted with powers unseen in ten generations, but to destroy the malevolent demon, Asher, he needs much more than strength—he needs Ellery Reskeen.

Brave, quick-witted, and beautiful, Ellery has no idea of the magic that lies dormant with her, or of the danger that surrounds the handsome, rain-soaked stranger who collapses on her doorstep. As she and Conor flee from Asher and his followers, their attraction turns to a searing desire with unimaginable consequences. Only Conor stands between Asher and the destruction he plans for mortal and Fey alike. And the only way to end the threat forever is for Conor to sacrifice the woman he has grown to love more than life itself…

I wish both of you the best and many, many more books lining the shelves. I look forward to reading both of these books. Congratulations on your success!!! I'm so excited for you both.

Hard work and dedication really pay off. You can't give up.

Now I just need to follow that rule ...
