So Close

I am so, so close to the end of my story. Right on the precipice of the black moment when all hell breaks loose. And then reality hit and I've been busting my butt since with my hero stuck with the knife in his hand, literally.

UGH!

Of course, I've been running around with mom visiting and then visiting friends in PA. Yeah, I know. Excuses. Excuses.

I'm getting there.

58K

Let's go for 60K by this weekend. I can do it!

Of course you can do it. I run into the problem of having a solid beginning, several points to hit and an ending in mind and no idea how to get there. (Sort of like WWE wrestlers who don't know how to keep a match looking realistic for eight minutes.)

What I find myself doing is writing. I may go back and edit out a chapter or a scene or completely reworking the path from point a to point b, but if I'm not writing, I may never get my hero to that happy (or unnerving, or perilous, etc)end.

The other suggestion I'd give you is to go where your ideas come to you and you can diffuse the white noise of all the other things that are keeping you out of your hero's head. Me, I have a hot tub. That's good for shutting out the clamor of the day job, school, and everything else. Hope it works for you!

Maya,

Thanks for the encouragement. It helps knowing I have so many friends in my corner. It makes it seem not as lonely. :)

Thanks, Nick! And nice WWE reference ... hmmm ... you mean that isn't REAL!?! Damn you, Superfly!

I usually work the same way with knowing the beginning and having an idea of an end but not really sure how to get there. It's always amazing when things work out and somehow I make it to end and it makes sense just by opening my mind and letting the words flow. Very magical ... :) But then there are the revisions. I won't even think about that now.

Yeah, I do the hot bathtub thing with a little alcohol. Loosens me up a bit. :P
